WELLSVILLE -
Nicholas Di Biase,
77, of Center Drive, died Tuesday (May 20, 2008) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born April 3, 1931, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., the son of
Nicholas and Bonnie (Jagger) Di Biase.
Nick spent his childhood in Berwyn, Pa., and after high school served with the
U. S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he graduated from West Chester State University and then received his master’s degree from Temple University. He was employed as a social studies teacher at Moorestown Public Schools in New Jersey and during these years he was also the owner and director of Northeast Canoe
Camps, which organized youth summer canoe trips down the Delaware River. He
came to Wellsville in 1977 and taught at Wellsville High School until his
retirement in 1994. He was a longtime member and acting president of the
Allegany ARC Board of Directors. In the last years of his life, Nick greatly
enjoyed delivering meals for the Allegany County Meals on Wheels program.
He is survived by six children, David (Cindy) Di Biase of State College, Pa.,
B. Lynn Di Biase of Staunton, Va., Cori Di Biase of New York City, Sarah Di
Biase of Wellsville, Anna Di Biase of Florence, Italy, and Pete Di Biase of
Cleveland, Ohio; as well as two dear friends, Priscilla Ingles Watson of
Waynesboro, Va. and Susan Horr Di Biase of Wellsville.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Nick’s life on at 7:30 p.m. Friday in
the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home,
Inc., 34 W. State St. in Wellsville. A time of visiting with the family will
